The Buick Reatta was a marvel of technology, and a tremendously interesting and unusual car. Today I'm reviewing the Buick Reatta, and I'm going to show you all the quirks and features of this interesting coupe. I'm also going to drive the Reatta and show you what it's like on the road.

It would be cool to see Doug do a 95 - 99 Buick Riviera. Buick brought in the 90s in interesting fashion and they left it in interesting fashion .... ironically same-ish 3800 V6 powering both lol. I feel Doug would have fun with the Riviera's quirky stylings.

My problem is you are ranking it compared to today's market. You need to be retrospective - I think that touch screen is amazing for 1988 standards. We need some simple designs to come back.

My parents bought two to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Drove them daily for over twenty years. They both were driven on cross country road trips and once went from Wisconsin to Alaska. Both were very reliable and were driven in excess of 250k. Their German Shepherd rode behind the seats.

I own a red 1989 reatta and it is not your grandfather's Buick, but yet a youthful romantic coupe that handles well and turns more heads than a Corvette of the same year, all the features are the birthplace of a lot of the modern features that we now take for granted as well as a 3.8 liter engine that you can get parts for easily today, the sporty design, power and handling is amazing as well as having the sleek veneer of the 1980s. The Doug score was highly unfair to the car.

Styling is more like a 7 - it was styled by two different teams, one did the front, the other did the back, which is why it doesn't really flow together well. But the idea was for it to have an Italian look - and unlike Doug, I think it actually looks better now since it's not generic. One thing that is odd is pricing, I recall these being fairly expensive, which is why they didn't sell. If these are selling used in only that $10-12k range, I might try to buy one, at least one with a CRT.

After all this time, I FINALLY figured out DougSpeak by watching this video: "Unusual" = Strange or unnecessarily weird for its own sake. "Interesting" = Idiotic beyond all description. "I like that" = This is comically goofy. "Unfortunately" = Nearly catastrophically. I'll need to remember these definitions and go back to see what he was REALLY saying about other cars! :)

My father had a Cadillac Seville from the '70s that had the so-called cornering lights (and so did his Buick Electra 225). Hi Citroen SM had the headlights that would turn to the steering wheel's movement. Amazing to see how old technology is making a come back in the 2020s.

Yes and no. If you're going to take care of it and maintain it well, then yes. These can be pricey to find some parts (mostly the braking system) and windshields can be $1500-$2500. Best thing you could do would be to buy it, store it and get a beater toyota camry as your daily driver. Eventually this might be a collector car depending on the condition due to its rarity.
